What Does Mercedes-Benz Oil Service Include?

Mercedes-Benz Service A and Service B both include oil service, but what does Mercedes-Benz oil service entail? Whenever you bring your vehicle to our service center for standard maintenance, you can expect us to cover each of the following:

  • Complete a Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement* for model years 2009 and newer as a component of Mercedes-Benz Service A** or Mercedes-Benz Service B**
  • Complete an oil change for model years 2008 and older (when not part of Service A/B)
  • Complete Oil Filter Replacement* using genuine parts
  • Recycle the old filter

When is Mercedes-Benz Oil Service Required?

Your recommended oil service interval will vary based on a variety of factors, including the age of your model. However, models manufactured in recent years will help you stay on top of your regular appointments:

  • Your built-in ASSYST Plus service tracker will make recommendations on when to schedule service near Beachwood or Mayfield.
  • Generally speaking, ASSYST Plus will recommend Mercedes-Benz oil service once every 10,000 miles, or roughly once per year^. However, certain factors may require you to adjust your frequency.
  • Explore the differences between Service A and Service B to learn more about the Mercedes-Benz maintenance schedule.

Models made during and after model-year 2009 will receive Mercedes-Benz Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement as part of their regular Service A or Service B appointment. Those made in model-year 2008 or earlier will receive a simple Mercedes-Benz oil change. Be sure to check your owner’s manual for model-specific recommendations and guidelines.

Synthetic Oil vs. Regular Oil

You’ve seen that Mercedes-Benz oil service always entails full Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement–as well as oil filter replacement–but why is this the case? First, let’s look at the physical and chemical differences between regular and synthetic oil:

  • Regular motor oil is a refined product that works well for many vehicles, but it can’t match the level of performance offered by synthetic oil.
  • Synthetic motor oil goes through an additional refinement process, and it also receives powder additives that increase its effectiveness. It may also be distilled, purified, and broken down at the molecular level.

So, why is synthetic oil required in Mercedes-Benz vehicles? Simply put, it’s the only type of oil that can live up to the standards of your high-precision Mercedes-Benz engine. It offers the following benefits:

  • A reduction in friction as your engine operates
  • A reduction in deposits that tend to build up naturally over time
  • A reduction in unclean emissions
  • More reliable performance in extreme heat or extreme cold
